Born April 28, 1919 to Judge Murray Mulligan and May Flanagan. Mary's grandfather Judge James Mulligan was a law partner with Sir John A. MacDonald.

Predeceased by her brothers, Murray and D'Arcy, and her son Harry. Lovingly remembered by her sisters, Helen McKinnon, Toronto, Bessie Singbush, Sudbury, Eileen O'Neill, Sudbury, and Sheila (Paddy) Gilbride, Thunder Bay; her children, Sr. Mae Kierans, North Bay, ON, Tom (MariJo), Montreal, Murray, Collingwood, ON, Brenda (Len) Wahlen, Coquitlam, Michael (Dagmar), Prague, CR, Teresa (Jim) Spurr, Coquitlam, Kathleen Walker, Vancouver, and Paul Kierans, Burnaby and their father Tom Kierans; her daughter-in-law Silvana; and her grandchildren, Tim, Sonia, Jennifer, Mary, J.T., James, Henry, Andrew, Oliver, Willem, Christopher, Eirean, and Siobhan; her sisters-in-law, Josephine and Betty and all her many nieces and nephews.

Mary, a lifelong deeply devoted Roman Catholic and civic minded woman, initiated and volunteered in countless good works and charities. She was especially responsive to people with special needs, the poor, and children. She was recognized by her gentle smile, wry wit, compassion, and love of life.
